I couldn't be any more proud of this girl. I have been sitting on this post for a little while because I knew there was going to be an appropriate time to acknowledge all of her hard work and determination. On March 15 2019, the journey started. No more crappy food choices, no more workouts without a goal to strive for. Her journey became her own and she has been killing it ever since. At first she was apprehensive and didn't want to take pictures but when things started to change and she could see her hard work paying off she changed her mind. At the point the second set of pictures was taken, she was 20lbs down from where she started. Now she is hitting the 30lbs lost!! I cannot wait for her next set of pictures in a few weeks!!! So proud of all her progress and hard work! One of the most important things she has done in her journey is communicate with me. When she's craving something sweet, when she's feeling down, when something is bugging her and she needs to get it out, she sends a message and we work through it! Do you spend 5-10 minutes warming up on the treadmill or a piece of cardio equipment before your sessions? Why? Why not spend that time doing something more productive as a warm-up? ⬇️ I choose to activate my glutes, my core and if needs be, my shoulders... The benefits of this are minimising injury risk and maximising the potential effectiveness of the session in-hand. ⬇️ This isn’t to say that if you don’t usually go on the treadmill you shouldn’t do these warm-ups, these warm-ups switch on the vital muscles that tend to switch off in day-to-day life, enabling you to lift heavier and more safely. ⬇️ This is my glute and core engagement routine that I perform before every squat, leg or deadlift session: * Bird dogs - 5 reps each side (with 2 second hold) * Plank - 30 seconds * Side plank - 15 seconds each side * Crunches - 10 reps * Single leg glute bridge - 10 reps each leg * Clams - 25 reps each leg ⬇️ Repeat this as many times as you need until you feel your core and glutes engaged. The key is not to exhaust these muscles when warming them up but to engage them. I usually perform this routine 2-3 times. I will post my shoulder mobilisation drill in another post ✌🏼. I hope this is useful 💪🏼
