When you see someone you love who could use a hug, a kind word, or even a simple look of recognition- what do you do?
I don’t mean to assume though I’m going to - I bet you would give what you feel goods to give and what feels intuitively right.
To acknowledge, to hug, to support, to be there in the best way you know and feel how.
And that feels good. For you and for them. You want to help. You want to be of service.
So why is it that when the tables are turned and someone reaches out to extend support - we often find it difficult to receive? That we feel we are either unworthy of it, don’t deserve it or just have a block around it all together?
Remember - it feels good to give. It is in our nature. We want to help and support.
By not receiving, we take away this experience for the giver. We reject their want and need to be of service.
Next time anyone extends a hand to serve and a heart to support - please receive.
For the both of you.
Learning this dance is what humanity needs. The dance of giving and receiving.
