There are so many misconceptions around Thyroid Cancer: it’s a Girl’s disease; it’s the ‘good’ cancer; one little tablet a day after is all you’ll need
What a load of BS!
I am so blessed to have come away from this monster so strongly (with much more than one tablet a day to survive) ... one that was quite advanced when we found it .... but there are others who are not so fortunate. 🦋
Men get this disease too ... and, sadly, they often get it in it’s most aggressive form. 🦋
My heart goes out to all the Warriors, male and female, fighting this beast. You are true Champions!

We are so good at being hard on ourselves. When you can look at your faults and be ok with them, but still have the determination to work towards improvement, you know you are in a healthy place. 🌸
For a mid forties gal, I’m really happy with my progress. Middle aged (ouch) and no thyroid to help my body ... but so much passion and determination to be as healthy and happy as I can be. 🌸
This pic was taken last week on our Gold Coast getaway. Q1 has a little gym which suited my basic workout needs perfectly. Managed a few workouts during the break but also had some serious time out to heal. So nice!

Never ever let someone tell you maybe your not built for something..... Judgement often tells more about the other person than the judged.
I was told by one of my doctors that maybe I wasn't built for running because I complained of sacroiliac nerve pain that was actually from a hormonal medication overdose. When my meds were reduced, the pain went away. The facts are that the amount of hormone therapy thyroid cancer survivors have to endure can lead to osteoporosis. It's a known side effect. Be your own advocate because no one will if you don't.
Listen to YOUR body and YOU are the expert of YOU. No one tells me I am not a runner. Not even ME.

One year, 12months, 365 days... November 12, 2017. 🎗
A few days before, I had a biopsy on a nodule that my wonderful PCP had found because I was feeling “off”. I went in thinking I was vitamin deficient or had hypothyroid (because I had as a teenager but grown out of it). The Radiologist who did my fine needle aspiration was so certain that my nodule was benign he said “just look online in a couple of days and you’ll look for the word benign.”
Those were NOT the words I read on a quiet Sunday evening sitting at home across from my husband. I’ll never forget this day a year ago. The instant knot in my stomach, lump in my throat feeling... the tears that flowed and flowed... but most importantly the support that instantly arrived and still to this day has my back. And two weeks later, I was in the OR having half of my thyroid removed. When that wasn’t enough, two weeks later (just two weeks before Christmas!) I was back having the other half of my thyroid removed and 10 lymph nodes!
November 12, 2017 will always be a day that signifies a major change in my life! Thyroid cancer taught me so much. I was always terrified that I’d get cancer. Well I did. And I punched it right in the face 👊🏻 I am a better person after going through it. I am stronger 💪🏻 More humble 🙏🏻 More grateful 😇 and I am excited for the future 😀🧁I am reminded every day of this time in my life by a little green pill I take each morning. I still suffer issues dealing with too much or too little medication. But I am blessed, and I am grateful for my health. It could be worse, but it is not, and I celebrate 🎉 that every single day! 💚💗💜

Today was my 6 month post cancer check up! ✅ Everything looked good in my labs except my T3 🤔🤔🤔 He’s not sure why it’s still 0.01 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know why either... but I’ve been feeling fine! So he ordered some blood work and I have an ultrasound tomorrow on my neck! He didn’t feel anything concerning when he checked my neck. So I’m feeling positive 👍🏻
