Everyone DIES in the conclusion to "Uncanny X-Men" #142
(February 1981) written by Chris Claremont & John Byrne, pencils by John Byrne, inks by Terry Austin, colors by Glynis Oliver
*Colossus and Wolverine do one final #FastballSpecial
and Wolverine DIES.
*Storm responds reasonably.
*Storm DIES. Colossus reacts reasonably.
*Poor Rachel Summers is forced to "see" and feel the deaths of her only friends, but she can't do anything because she's linking Kitty to the past. Also fun to see Rachel w a Kitty decades older than her and married to Piotr.
Speaking of Piotr, Piotr DIES, but he doesn't even get a death scene. Rachel is feeling the deaths of Storm and Logan, then suddenly "oh, there goes Piotr too."
*Kitty realizes she is Destiny's "anomaly" (though not in those words), and that's why Destiny can't detect her.
*Kitty stops Destiny from killing Senator Kelly, and the future is saved!!! She did it! She did it! BOOM. Shake the room.
*Mission completed, Kitty goes back to the future. Peak-Pryde, she kisses herself goodbye.
*EPILOGUE: Sebastian Shaw has business w President Reagan, so already this is fucked. But wait, there's another...
*...Henry Peter Gyrich. Nothing good has ever happened cause Gyrich has been there.
*Teenage Kitty returns to her body, and remembers nothing after her Danger Room session.
Angel waxes poetic on the ambiguity of not knowing if they'd succeeded or not.
And that's a wrap on my 6pt #DaysOfFuturePast
coverage. "Days Of Future Past" is so dense, Claremont and Byrne fit six issues into two comics.
