I’ve been incorporating more sumo deadlifts into my workouts lately.⠀ ⠀ They’re kinda awkward and take some getting used to but they definitely work!!⠀ ⠀ I’m always looking to challenge and push myself and working on my legs is definitely one of the biggest areas for that. ⠀ ⠀ Most guys only usually care about their upper body but I can’t get too stagnant or plateau or just focus on one area.⠀ ⠀ You have to always be learning and improving. That’s how you attain mastery but it starts with self awareness. It’s also more fun doing more and learning more.⠀ ⠀ “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” - Socrates ⠀ ⠀ Yeah I just dropped some philosophy on a fitness video for ya! One is the things that contributes to my health is having a connection to spiritual things. It shapes my mindset, my dealings with others and contributes to a positive outlook on things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Granted, my glass is not always half full and there are definitely times when it’s hard to see the good in others and myself. But I keep on trying. It’s definitely a practice. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ For some people, having a religious based faith is helpful, while others find practices like yoga or even community services helpful in creating a mindfulness or spiritual intention. I’m not here to tell you what to do. The warmup to yesterday’s @pullupparkjam competition in Brooklyn New York. I felt a little more comfortable going into this one, My 4th this year; As this is my first year competing, It’s been a great time to be able to meet and compete against so many great athletes. And I mean that , There are a few people who bring a certain type of energy when they come around. #Repost @dancudes 💚💚💚 ・・・ 🔥Heavy or light weights🔥 - There is a great debate between lifting with heavy or light weights. Some people think that you always have to lift heavy no matter what. Others think lifting heavy is only for strength training athletes and that the 8 to 12 rep range is where all the gains are made. However, you should be lifting all weights in all rep ranges. With the acception of a beginner who I believe should lift with light to moderate weights and work their way down throughout time to heavier weights, it is evident that lifting both heavy and lighter (a relative term) weights are paramount for building muscle mass. I'm addition, there are benefits to each that the other doesn't necessarily have. I like to structure my workout where I train with heavier loads at the beginning of my workout when I'm the freshest and lighter loads near the end though you can even structure your week so one workout is dedicated to heavier loads and the other is dedicated to lighter loads (e.g. upper heavy, lower heavy, upper light, lower light). Regardless, train with all weights in all rep ranges to build the most amount of muscle, become strong and functional, and be a well-rounded lean and fit individual. - Do you train with heavy or light weight? I started a new routine about a month ago no weights all resistance cables it’s actually helped keeping me from falling out of place and it helped my body recover when I was a mess!! When I was doing weights I noticed I was always dealing with constant problems with my body always something new and I was super hungry all the time I kept putting on weight I did it for 3 years now it’s back to what I actually like and used to do and I’m excited!! Resistance training is a lot better In my opinion and a lot more fun it’s also gotten me stronger and if you like to kickbox like me it makes way more sense it’s smarter for the body since I’ve been doing it I’ve had no problems whatsoever I used to do it years ago and I missed it like crazy!!!
