Justice league is directed by Joss Whedon (I refuse to say it’s directed by Zack Snyder because it isn’t) and is honestly one of the biggest disappointments in cinematic history.
This movie is an abomination of Zack Snyder’s original vision, and the god awful reshoots that changed the majority of the film. I would say the acting is good, and a lot of it is, but it depends from scene to scene. This is because you have the scenes that Snyder shot, mixed in with the reshoots; and it’s obvious that some of them, @benaffleck
especially, don’t want to be there for the reshot scenes.
Not everything in here is bad, but it’s been butchered and hacked down to an under 2 hour film, meaning that you won’t find any build up. Because of this, nothing that happens in this film feels satisfying; it honestly didn’t feel like I was watching a film, it felt like I watched a pilot to a tv show that never came out.
There’s some good character stuff if you look past the significant lack of any setup. Cyborg is a good character that has to step out into the shadows and accept that he isn’t a monster, whilst learning to control his abilities; Flash has to get a more stable life, with a stable job; Arthur is dealing with wanting to be alone and learns to be in a team; Diana is still dealing with Steve’s death from her film; And Bruce is dealing with his guilt over superman’s death. But nearly all the setup to these is cut out, so nothing feels earned.
The only genuinely good scene is the league vs Clark.
The movie also looks and feels cheap (the last 2 pics are Snyder’s shots and you can tell), whilst the reshoots try to retcon the last films and make superman a beacon of hope from the beginning, but the whole point of Snyder’s version of this was to complete superman’s arc and have him become the superman we know.
Steppenwolf is also one of the worst villains. Ever. With awful CGI and non-existent motives. They also removed Zimmer’s score, so even the score isn’t good in this.
Overall, don’t waste your time on this, just fight for @wbpictures
to release Snyder’s original vision, because there’s a good movie in here, it’s just called the #snydercut
