Dog training isn’t a one time deal. You are always teaching , encouraging , and guiding your dog just like your children. Chance went through a very complex transition over the last two weeks. The last two days for him have been very rough going. Not just the long 15 state now cross country car ride , but transitioning to a big real city life. The sights , sounds , smells, and most importantly change of routine or lack thereof can turn even the best trained dog’s world upside down. It’s up to the pet parent to help them through with patience and encouragement. Things you wouldn’t even think about that seem small to you are huge to them. For example. Peeing / pooping on cement with no grass in site. When their whole life they only knew grass. Big buses speeding down streets. Thunderstorms. 6 flights of narrow stairs to get home. For the first two days Chance barely made it 2 blocks before grabbing his leash to pull himself “home”. Today he smiled for the first time in front of the fountain at Washington Square Park. Gave me such a sense of relief. The dog park with no grass was confusing for him. But we will both get the hang of it. #dogtrainer #newyorkcity #manhattan #westvillage #washingtonsquarepark #newyorkdogs #newyorkdogsofinstagram #dogsarepeopletoo #dogsneedlove #citydog #bigapple #bethereforyourdog #ilovemydog #chocolatelabsofinstagram #chocolatelaboftheday #bekindtoyourdog
Austin has a notch on his head. He is so wicked smart that his brain needed extra room in order to contain all of his brilliance.
Austin: Did you know that basil and tomatoes are companion plants? Planting basil near tomatoes can help the tomatoes ward off insects and disease.
River: Plus, they are great names for our garden superhero identities. You can be Tomato, and I’ll be Basil. #gardensuperheroes #gardenbuddies #dogsinthegarden #gardeningwithdogs #tomato #basil #houndsofkettlerwoods
