Self-care doesn't have to be fancy, expensive, or time-consuming. What's your favorite way to practice self-care?
Shannon opens up on how she successfully returned back to school and managed to maintain stability in her life. As she says, “I'm not seeing schizophrenia as a parasite on me anymore, rather it's just another layer of the complex pieces of myself. I feel completely optimistic regarding my future, and happy to be where I am.” 👩‍🎓 #CollegeReEntry #StudentStories
It isn't always easy to stop what you are doing to take a break to look after yourself for a while, but a small amount each day might help you. Remember to make self care a priority, not a luxury. ✨ #SelfCareSaturday

OH, MY GOD! I still remember the jitters a day before joining college. What will it be like? Will I have a fun group like they show in the movies? How do people study in a college? Will I look like a nerd if I carry separate books for every subject? What do I wear tomorrow? Will I find my soul mate here? Your first few days at college could feel like a nervous attack, but soon, you will get the sense of it being your second home. Take it from me, years down the line; you will look back upon these days as the most cherished ones that you can probably never live back again! It is important that you take friendships in college at a slow pace since this is your first time in a world outside set rules and regulations. People wear masks that come off in hurtful ways sometimes, and you want to stay away from that. Take your time to get to know people, and do not trust anyone easily. You might feel lonely for a while, but if that leads you to a group of friends that last a lifetime, then it is totally worth it. Most importantly, keep your phone password protected and share that NO ONE! Most colleges are nothing like what we see in the movies. It is not a fashion parade with dream-like sequences where one can throw paper planes across the class. For some, the college may seem like a party place, but that ain’t true either. You will become an independent individual who has to set their own line of discipline. Studying is an integral part of college for this is where your career moulds into a beautiful shape. Learn to strike that balance, and ripen the sense of taking thoughtful decisions. College is fun, only if you want it to be; it can go in the opposite direction if you fall for allurements. Take these years as a valuable experience; let studying, and fun remain equal. And most importantly, if at all you feel stressed and burnt out then there is no harm to talk to a counsellor. Because talking to the right person does help. #mpoweru #sociallife #collegelife #university #collegeanxiety #college #universitylife #anxiety #depression #friends #collegefests #studies #cocirriculars #teachers #friends #peergroups #peerpressure #itsokaytotalk

What can you share with an emerging adult who’s about to go away to college? . These amazing young people are about to embark on several years of accelerated growth - academically and socially. With this growth comes difficult moments, stressful events, and numerous pitfalls. . You may just help someone avoid a potential trauma. Or give them the strength to reach out to someone if one occurs. . I wish someone had told me that when a male co-ed offers to walk you home from a campus party - that he’s likely expecting something. . #collegeadvice @naassomz1 - photo credit
Don’t forget! 🌼🥰
NEW MONTH! NEW GOALS!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every month I set new goals for myself because I’m constantly trying to improve! Sometimes they’re small, sometimes they’re big! The only requirement is that it can be reached in a month!! 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This month I’m going lower my sugar intake and watch my carbs! Carbs are the best part about life but man they really set me back from my goals! That doesn’t mean I’m completely cutting them out, it’s important to have a balanced diet and carbs are part of it! 🤗 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you are just starting your fitness journey and don’t know where to start! Try to cut out pop or reduce it to once a week! If you’re like me and rarely drinks pop, try working out 30 min a day! Both of those are 100% achievable in a month and you’ll create a great base to your journey! 😎🔥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remember. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Be consistent for 21 days and you’ll get hooked 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your goals this month? 😎
Returning to college after a semester or two away can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, particularly if you are going away for the first time and experiencing mental health challenges. Here are 5️⃣ ways you can assure a smoother transition to reduce social and academic stress. ⬆️ #CollegeReEntry
Why is it that so many people request, reach for, and prescribe artificial, laboratory made, “cures” for lifestyle issues? . The great majority of anxiety cases I see arise from lifestyle, stress, and interpersonal issues. . For these cases, address and fix the root cause, rather than throwing pills at the symptoms. #holisticmentalhealth

I stay pretty even but there are times when I just let it go. I may yell a bit but it’s when I’m quiet... like deathly quiet my family knows to just let me be. Maybe it’s self preservation.??🤷🏼‍♀️
