Was good having NPL footballers ⚽️@riley_kilpatrick and Sam Williams from @manlyunitedfootballclub and @marinersnorthshore respectively in the gym for their strength sessions today. It’s also good to hear that more and more footballers are taking their Physical Prep seriously these days. As S&C coaches we know that a stronger athlete is a more resilient one. (⬇️STR= ⬇️Power, ⬇️COD ability ⬇️running efficiency ⬇️speed) To ensure that players are actually maintaining this level of strength and power which should have been well established during OFF SEASON & PRE SEASON they need to be following a strength training program alongside their field training during IN SEASON at least 2x a week. Here are 4 tips for developing strong and robust Football ⚽️players; 1) Develop Posterior Chain Strength 2) Develop Adductor Strength 3) Dont neglect the upper body and train it with a (1:1.5)PUSH V PULL Ratio 4) plyometrics (low and high intensity) are best done at the beginning of a session. 225, 235 and 270 pounds with barbell, log and axle clean and press medley for 3 sets today. Last set shown. Trying to keep my breathing and bracing in check as fatigue accumulates. Came home super sleepy and took a 45 minute power nap before working out, today. My goal was to go in, power through the workout and perform the best I could. Happy to report I didn't have to modify weight, sets or reps. I guess that power nap did me good! We started in a scout hall 5 years ago, moved into our first gym 4 years ago and opened ‘2.0’ three months ago. Just like your fitness, progress is a journey that takes time, discipline, dedication, hard work and sacrifice. As hard as it is grinding it out day after day, it’s always worth it in the end.

But this is for the the 99.5% of us that don’t get payed to do it) Our movement is our greatest attribute. If your doctor or physio tell you to have some time off. DO IT! 6 weeks off a bike is nothing compared to not being able to walk straight or even consider riding a bike 5 years down the track, to be able to go to work to support your family, to be able to do anything you want. Knee braces can save a lot of drama but they shouldn’t be your only piece of defense. Tendons, ligaments and muscles when used properly support a lot more than that! Surround yourself with experts in their fields, once you have a good team you can focus on YOU!

Weeks and weeks of rehab, boring alternatives to her normal training and some big mental hurdles . . She shows up every session, ready to go to war and today was a big battle. . In April of this year, Maria got back on the rower for the first time since her injury and rowed 1000m in 7:00,(which is about twice as long as it would take the average person). . Today, Maria put 10,000m on the rower and went at it. She finished it in 45:23. That’s an average of 4:52 per 1000m, over 2 minutes faster than she was in April 💪🏼 . We’re very proud of Maria’s attitude to her training and her determination to overcome this injury and push even further than she was before she got hurt.💚
