After two weeks of not being able to low bar 60kg without pain it made a return today 😊 -worked up to a single @ 130kg 100% pain free which was refreshing -Back down 10’s @ 80kg beltless Plan going forward is to lowbar once per week and then slowly introduce 2x a week again so I don’t just re-injure them straight away #thethiccening #teamgrownbygardner

Soviet sport scientist Артём teaches you difference between high bar and low bar squatting... . The terms just refer to the position of the bar relative to your traps. . "High bar" will have the bar sitting on your traps, and will generally result in a more upright squat compared to "Low bar". . High bar is used by weightlifters to more closely resemble the Olympic movements of snatch and clean and jerk. . "Low bar" will have the bar sitting below the larger belly of the traps, being held in place by a combination of forward tilt of the torso and the rear delts creating a "shelf" for the bar to sit in. . Compared to YOUR high bar (not someone else's), the low bar squat, with this shorter distance between the bar and your hip, will result in relatively more forward tilt. . Most people can low bar squat more than they can high bar. This is probably due to the different hip angle of the LBSQ influencing depth, stretch reflex, and back muscular engagement. . The LBSQ is very popular in powerlifting, where the above elements must be exploited competitively. . Which one should you do? If you're just looking to get healthy and strong, it really doesnt matter. Under great analysis by guys like @gregnuckols , we find that the movements are far more similar than different. . For my clients, I always consider context and goals - but several times have biased toward the high bar squat in early development. . My 2 cents is that early technique and strength development in the high bar squat transfers over to a stronger low bar squat better than the other way around. . Hinge Movements: Deadlift: (8-15 reps) using a kettlebell, dumbbells or a barbell, hinge at the hips to feel tension in the hamstrings. Squeeze the glutes to return to the top. Don’t turn this movement into a squat. Chest towards the floor and butt to the back wall when descending. Kettlebell swing: (15-25 reps) make sure you have the deadlift down before progressing to this movement. Same rules apply. Training on an empty stomach today (sorry coach) so was fuelled by nothing but rage and testosterone......worked out ok I suppose but I felt hungry during all my workout which isnt what you want.
