Demar has been linked to the Spurs in recent trade rumors, so I thought I’d come up with my own trade.
Why it makes sense:
Spurs - I don’t think the Spurs will trade DeRozan since it’s likely Pop’s last year, but for the future it makes sense. They could probably find a better offer, but this one is solid. Kennard is a knockdown shooter with a ceiling of someone like Redick, but with more of a shot-creating ability. Jackson has had his ups and downs, but had a pretty good year last season. Maker hasn’t really done much in his career so far, but might be able to turn it around. Getting 2 1st round picks is also nice, and could be valuable if they are picks in a few years since Demar and Blake will be regressing then. Demar is an all-star caliber player right now, but is trade value isn’t through the roof. His game won’t age well, which makes crazy trade offers for him very unlikely.
Pistons - Since Derozan doesn’t have really high trade value, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab another star to play with Blake and Drummond. While spacing will be rough with this trio, I like their defensive and tough identity. They can make noise in the East, I don’t think they’ll win it or even make it to the conference finals, but there’s really no other choice for Detroit if they don’t want to trade Blake.
