The story of Muffin and Mochi.
Muffin was an abandoned cat, his owners had apparently moved away and left him. When I rescued him he was ill, very thin and I would say broken hearted. The residents there had kindly fed him for around a month, but no one could give him a forever home.
A check with my vet revealed that he had cryptorchidism. His eyes and ears were also infected.
His medical issues were resolved and he underwent surgery for his condition. I had him neutered too.
What took much longer was building his trust and mending his heart.
He was defensive, volatile and not accepted at first by my resident cats.
It took months of tlc to get him to trust me.
I never gave up on him.
As the months went by, he became calmer and would sit and lie down beside me and let me hold him. At last he knew he had a forever family who would love him till the very end.
Still, something was missing. He was lonely as the resident cats gave him a wide berth.
My vet suggested getting a kitten. I was hesitant as I already had 6 other cats.
In April I decided to adopt Mochi.
And it was magic! Mochi was what Muffin needed. A kitty to love and one that loved him back. I kept them apart at first. But he would lie down beside her. And one day, they touched paws, Muffin put his big paw in and Mochi reached out. Oh my heart..
My heart is so full of joy watching them. And yes, the resident cats have accepted Muffin, on their terms.
Life is good and I am so thankful.♥️
