How do you stay energized for your students? Teaching is so demanding physically and mentally. I cycle and swim almost every day, and that exercise helps me stay energized all day (Until I get home, and then I stare at a wall for about half an hour 😂). What strategies do you use to keep going through the day?
It was such a treat to spend the week in the Narrabri region Retail Revamping the main streets. A big thank you to NSW Small Business Commissioner and Narrabri Shire + Penny and her team from Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre who made this week possible. A very big mention to all the businesses who attended, I am always humbled and so grateful for the enthusiasm and passion these guys share during these workshops. Facing such tough times yet so determined to beat this drought, you have my support all the way! 🙌🏻 ❤️ 🙌🏻 @narrabriregion #regionalnsw #narrabri #boggabri #weewaa
My friend asked me what I've learned today? Through STEM education and mathematics coaching, I can learn so much through my students. When I worked with my youngest math student tonight... I've learned that I am able to figure out a new mathematical method I personally hadn't learned prior of solving specific mathematical problems on the spot... master it on the spot, and be able to teach it back to my student to compliment what my student's math teacher requires of my student to learn. Even if that method is far more tedious than the method I learned, I don't mind nor complain about that math teacher's math curriculum method, but I compliment it. Then I teach my student more methods to solve those same type of problems to give that student math tools into the tool box. I've learned that my mathematics expertise is in my adaptability in how I learn and teach. Then I model that to my student. I thoroughly love mathematics! That what I've learned today through my math student. Now that's astronomical! -Jason Tom
