Emotional eating is tricky. . It disguises itself as true hunger. . Often times we don’t know we’re even doing it. . All we know is we have an intense craving to eat- usually something very specific. . So we eat and we feel better. . But only for a short time. . Then the issues and problems we were trying to numb from return. . Food didn’t fix them after all. . But the consequences of eating extra food the body doesn’t need are there: low energy, mood swings, depression, trouble remembering things, foggy thinking, increased cravings, anxiety, weight gain. . So, what’s a girl to do? . Here are 3 tools I personally use to combat emotionally eating: . 1. Plan out what you’re going to eat the night before. . You make better choices when you’re not in the heat of the moment. . 2. Cut out snacking . A lot of my snacking was actually emotionally eating. Cutting out the snacks helps me to feel my feelings. I realized snacking was just a habit and that I actually feel better eating only 3 meals a day. . 3. Stop and ask yourself, “What is it I really need?” . What other than food will help the situation?
Ooooh! This right here hit me square in the feels. 😬 For the last few weeks, I’ve been sacrificing what I want MOST, for what I want NOW. (Spoiler alert; its not supposed go like that 🤦🏻‍♀️). I’ve sacrificed weight loss mode for maintenance. I’ve sacrificed sleep for IG scrolling. I’ve sacrificed productivity for laziness. So today, the BUCK. STOPS. HERE. Do you wonder where the butterflies and fire-flies went? When I was a kid I had a butterfly net and used to catch all kinds of living creatures; grasshoppers, crickets, butterflies and on a warm summer evening we caught fire-flies. I would keep my collection in a mason jar sealed with foil (air holes so everyone could breathe of course). I would put a stick and some grass to make a cozy glass house for my bugs. The good ol' days... When I look out back over the field now I see a butterfly, two on a good day. Where did they go? Do you ever wonder? Have you considered what the the use of pesticides and weed killers has done? Lawns look green and lush, produce is perfectly shaped and uniform in color but have you considered at what price? Have you considered the pollinators that help to grow our fruits and vegetables are dying for us to have weed free and mosquito free yards? Maybe think twice before using chemicals that are kilingl off the bugs. I'd love my grandchildren to experience the good ol' days too. Don't you?

Ingredients: Dry ingredients: 2 c gluten free flour (I make my own: 1 c brown rice flour, 1 c quinoa flour) 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon . Wet ingredients: 2 eggs 1/2 c almond milk, unsweetened 1/2 c applesauce, unsweetened 1/4 c coconut oil, melted and cooled 1/4 c 100% maple syrup 1 tsp vanilla extract . Other: 2 c rhubarb, chopped 1 c blueberries (or berries of choice) Try: Adding coconut shreds, sunflower seeds or slivered almonds. 😍 Directions: 1. Mix dry ingredients in large bowl. 2. Yes, I really mean it!! . . I've had clients who only send me their food journals on their "good" days or they're nervous to tell me the full truth of what they ate the day before, fearing I will judge them. And I get it. When we hear from society, our family, or friends over ad over again that there are "good" and "bad foods" it's hard to not feel like there will be any judgement associated with your choices. . . But here's the thing. I WANT and NEED to know all and everything you're eating and drinking, because that's how I'm going to truly help you and see what's happening in your day-to-day reality. It's just like if you were meeting with a therapist - if you weren't completely honest how you were feeling or about your problems, are they going to be able to truly help you? Probably not. . . This is why I ask all new clients to send me 3 days worth of everything they eat - so I can get a really clear picture of what you're doing and we start there 😍 . . So when we work together, know that you are not going to be judged or thought of any differently for what you're eating, or even if you didn't meet your weekly goals we set.
