Held my boy today for about an hour as he sobbed uncontrollably after having the ball knocked out of his glove on a play at the plate that tied the game.
• Jordan: “I know you’re disappointed in me. I lost the game for us. I let everyone down.”
• Me: “I will NEVER be disappointed in you as long as you live. I care about WHO you are as a man and leader you’re becoming & NOT what you do!! A baseball game is NOTHING compared to how much I will ALWAYS #love
you and be proud of you.”
• All too often, we see the “highlight reels of #fatherhood
.” The first steps, birthdays, and fun. But, there are dark days and this was one for #myboy
but make no mistake there is always #hope
in darkness. Its during these times our #kids
know we’re there for them. We will always be a safe place for them to bury their faces and cry for a while even if they leave your shirt covered in snot and you have a 45min drive home.
• I love his passion and his heart of gold. It’s that #passion
that I know will drive him and continue to push him to keep at it! He learned a lot today about how it feels to “drop the ball” when the game is on the line but I know he also learned his daddy loves him no matter what.
