▪️Climbing The Tree was one of my biggest nightmares whenever I tried a Reformer Session many years ago 🙈🙈🙈 .
▪️At the beginning of my Pilates Journey my hammies were tight, short, & so incredibly restrictive, that there was no way on earth I could sit up in long sitting, let alone climb a tree!!! 🙈🤪🤣 .
▪️However, with more understanding of the Pilates System, the Foundation of this genius Method, & a whole lot of release & rebalance both in mind & body, I am happy to say this challenging classic no longer holds the same dread as memories past!! 😉😄😃 .
▪️I demo this from Reformer to Mat version, as I love the accessibility that the Matwork brings to us ALL ✔️✔️✔️ .
▪️Main point here, do not feel you have to bring the working leg up high ❌ .
▪️It is more important to keep over sitbones to find the stretch in the upper fibres of the hammies ✔️ .
▪️This will help free & release pelvis & lumbar spine, & is revolutionary to freeing the hammies ✔️ .
▪️Work with feet pointed first, until hammies have released a little, otherwise, any restriction or shortening through calf muscle will dominate your stretch ❌ .
▪️When walking down & back up your tree/leg, keep pelvis secure & square by the genius of Pilates Opposition elongating BOTH sit bones away from crown of head through back line on the exhalation ✔️ .
▪️This secures our centre, & enables us to articulate the spine with control, without hitching through one or other side ✔️ .
▪️Ribcage connection is key here to fully mobilise through thoracic spine, & stabilise the trunk ✔️ .
