Let's talk about authors. Male or female? I seem to have a lot more books written by female authors than male, 31 to 7 to be exact. This is not at all intentional and some of my favourite authors are male (John Green, Matt Haig, James Patterson, David Nicholls)
Is it because I'm female myself so more drawn to the type of books women write? Is it because there are just more female authors than male? Is it because the covers are prettier? Who knows! Definitely need to start evening up my bookshelves though, I feel like there are probably lots of brilliant male authors I'm missing out on!
What are your bookshelves like? Are your favourite authors male or female?
First, let me thank @gill.paul1
for letting me read this one early! I feel super special anytime I get advanced books. 😍
I really love historical fiction. I love it even more when it’s a new space in history. Who hasn’t thought the story of the Romanovs was mysterious sometimes (especially in the 90s with Anastasia?!?). I loved this tale of Maria and Val. I was rooting so hard for both of them and fell totally in love with both of them. .
Even though It felt a little slow at first (this could also have been due to the run or short fluffy books I’ve been on 🙈), I really enjoyed it. Both women were so real and relatable and strong. I loved how I wondered how things would end up. I loved how it wasn’t ever quite as I expected. I loved the romance and the idea that things could have ended up differently that what we think happened. .
This one comes out 8/27. I’m off to find her back list books now! 📚
You know that feeling you get when you are so into a book.
You feel like it’s become part of your world
You start reading and all of a sudden it’s hours later and you are chapters deep
You can’t put it down because you have to know what happens next
You find every opportunity to grab it and keep reading
You think about it when your not reading and you have to know what the next chapter entails
You root for the characters. You become their best friend, you feel their happiness and their losses
When you finish reading you think how can this be the end
You want to know what the future holds for the characters
Do you know those feelings? I do and it’s what I love about reading. It lets your imagination sail to all kinds of places, it allows you to meet different people, to experience things you never thought you would, to travel around the world.
I love a good book. Love it! 💕

Why does someone start working on themselves? •
At some point they find out that they need it, and to be honest I needed to because I HATED who I was becoming. •
I was unhappy with my life in so many ways. Mostly with how I looked and I took it out by binge eating and drinking or on the people I love. I used to go to class and come home and do nothing but eat, drink and watch Netflix. •
It hasn’t been easy but it’s been an amazing journey and I’ve learned so much about myself and how much I used underestimate myself. •
I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for me setting a goal to take care of myself. That includes setting aside 20-30 minutes a day for my “me time”, reading personal development books, doing daily devotions and constantly checking in with my group to get the support and encouragement needed to push through the hard times. •
This journey has saved me and my relationships with those I love most, and it’s also repaired some broken ones too. 💜
So I just finished my 8th book of the year and it was so good. I have a confession to make: I’m addicted to @bookofthemonth
- I have 3 brand new books this from and, although I have 6 bookshelves and a pile with nowhere to fit, I just keep buying 🤷🏻♀️ 6 of the 8 this year have been true crime and 2 have been thrillers. Maybe it’s time to pick something happy? (Probably won’t). #girlswhoreadbooks #girlswhoread #bookworm #booknerd #reader
When you spend the whole day connected to spirit. Knowledge is key and i love reading and Learning to perfect my craft. People take for granted being able to stay in the comforts of your own home & spend the day praying, meditating, reading, journaling, listening to binaural beats, and just enjoying yourself, the silence & the connection. #IAM
grateful for days like this that let me recheck in with my heart & my soul & make adjustments where ever directed to. #SelfHEALING #ShadowWORK #Evolving #Growing #Sharing #GirlsWhoReadBOOKS #MyLittleBRUJITA #MiamiBRUJITA #ASÉ
Here are my books shelves in all their glory! I have 3 with more books in my bedroom and the garage. One day when we have a bigger house I'd love to have a huge bookcase with all my books on display! That is the shelfie dream 😂
