Happy Friyay!!! 🖤🖤🖤 . Ok so today has been a bit of a weird one for me...trained hamstrings & quads this morning and just wasn’t in to it! After having a rest day yesterday I thought I was going to smash my workout but I was feeling weak, unmotivated etc so did 40 minutes and left! and to be honest the rest of the day hasn’t been much better! . 2nd #legdayworkout of the week today...and it felt amazing, in a #sweaty , #everythinghurtsandimdying kinda way 😅 I still focused on #glutes and #hamstrings as usual for my #legdaynumber2 , but switched it up with this workout the @breannefreeman posted earlier in the week. I started with a warm and activation exercises from @cassielynnlift . These ladies are 2 of my favorites and I totally recommend following them for motivation and inspiration 🙌🏻 I don’t do cardio every day anymore...it was amazing in the beginning when I was first starting to workout regularly and needed to drop so much weight, and I still do cardio a couple of times a week, just mostly as #hiitworkouts added in with resistance training. While I still have weight I’d like to lose, I’ve shifted my focus a little more towards getting stronger (that’s the direction I’ve been veering off in for the last year when I started with #liift4 ) and I’m just totally in love with transforming my body, even if it’s minute progress at a very slow rate😬, into a stronger, more flexible body through weight training and #yoga (swipe to see stills from today’s practice...working that #balance !!)🙌🏻💪🏻. I still like getting my heart rate up every now and then and this workout does that! Tag a friend to help their form! - Follow @P.T.Pete for daily fitness/nutrition tips & education!📚 - Lumbar flexion in the deep squat stage because of mobility limitations in the hip joints and pelvis. It's important to maintain the natural curves in your spine to prevent lower back strain. In full squat, freedom of movement and good mobility in the hip joints and pelvis are essential for maintaining neutral spinal curves. Perform the squat up to the stage in which we cannot maintain the lumbar curve. In other words adapt the full squat to the exerciser's needs. Each exerciser has his "full", even if this means not getting all the way down. Before performing a squat or any other leg exercise we must create a stable base from the foot through the hip muscles and up to the core muscles. A stable base will balance the load on all the joints and bones. How do we do this simply? You can perform two actions that can activate all the relevant muscles: 1. Press the big toe down onto the floor. 2. Rotate the hip externally – drive your knee outward, and at the same time push the legs to the sides as if you want to separate them. Fixing the foot and rotating the hip will preserve the foot arch and the stability of the knee and hip. Moving the legs apart and contracting the pelvic floor will activate additional muscles, among them the hip abductors and the core muscles. A short practice of these two actions will give you a very important motor pattern that from now on can serve as a basis for all leg exercises.
