It has also taken away a lot. ⁣ ⁣ Momming had taken its toll on “Brenn”⁣ ⁣ On the left: I’m fatigued, pale, ready for something of my own, had headaches, physically depleted ⁣ ⁣ On the right: There is life in my eyes again, my skin is bright, my body has continual nutrition through my day, I have TONS of energy, no headaches, I wake up feeling refreshed, I have energy to make it to the gym now 🙌🏼⁣ ⁣ This program has given Brenn a make over. | TYPE 1 DIABETES | ~ Continual "mistakes".. growth.. and improvement. 💙💙💙 If there is one thing I have learned about my condition over the last 2 weeks, after it has really kicked me in the gut, is that after having Type 1 Diabetes for 17 years.. and going through hell and nearly dying as a 10 year old.. of learning to cope with puberty and teenage years with it.. of countless injections and finger prick checks (and calloused fingers) during each day.. of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia attacks.. of constant thoughts and anxiety of making sure my blood sugars don't drop or elevate.. of future worry of blindess, organ failure, neuropathy (nerves in the feet die)..and the fear of getting a cold knowing I will become Insulin Resistant... is that I have come to the realisation through reflection that I will always come across people that will not understand.. will not want to learn or accept what I have.. at the end of the day it is really about whether or not I do. 💙💙💙 There are some days I am hard on myself for having this condition, even though I didn't create or cause it. There are some days I hate my body for doing this to itself. For not allowing me to be able to escape an incurable life-threatening condition one that, despite what others have said to me, I did not cause (educate yourselves!). Or comments from non t1 Diabetics.. Oh, precious nap time... • • How momma needs thee. Let me count the ways... • I think the most common culprit of the typical mom complaint “I’m exhausted, over worked, under appreciated or overwhelmed” stems from ourselves... I do this to myself... I give and give and give. Until I look around and I’m frustrated, easily irritated and my patience is thin. How do I end up here??? I stop feeding myself. I’m just not talking about actual nutrition for my body (which that actually plays a direct effect in every other area) but nutrition for my spirit. Where everything flows from. It’s up to me. So today if you move from a place of peace, recognize it. Tend you YOU. That’s what I’m doing!! Taking a moment to love me well. Slow down. Inspire my spirit... challenge my mind. I get tired of eggs and smoothies for breakfast 🍳! So instead, I made chia seed pudding and topped it with a matcha coconut glaze, made with @thecoconutcult yogurt and enough @wildfoodsco matcha (which is sooo delicious). I was inspired by this last week when I ate at @blankslatenyc with my friend Keri Glassman from @nutritiouslifeofficial. They had it on the menu and I was like “I can make this at home!” I added some berries 🍓and some organic grain free granola that I bought at Costco. [which has a pretty amazing selection of organic and real foods lately!] My microbiome loves a diverse, real food diet. I eat too many of the same things on repeat, yet this was so easy to make. Quick base recipe: 1 cup coconut milk, 1/4 cup chia seeds, 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract and 2Tbsp raw honey. Put in mason jar and shake well or large lidded bowl and shake. Stick in fridge and let Chia seeds absorb the milk for at least two hours. Add toppings as desired... chia seed pudding is really a blank slate. It’s the toppings that make it fun! What do you do to break out of meal boredom?
