Good news - doctor says knee has healed beautifully so we can lose the brace and crutches. ❤️ Not so good news - the therapy needed will not have him back on the ice for his final all-star tournament next week! There will be lots of hockey to play when he’s ready. #hockeylife #hockeyinjury #hockeyfamily #myboy #islandlife
Groin Injuries are way more complicated than just hurting the adductor muscles. There are many various movement patterns and actions that incorporate our groin that we don’t even think about, if the adductors are injured, these movements are going to be affected as well. Yes, their primary movement is adduction but did you know that they can affect your hamstrings? Or your core?
More about it can be read of the blog this week written by Tyler Hofmann & Kate Exley about how just rehabbing the groin muscles that are injured isn’t enough. Link in the bio 😊😊
A huge thanks to St. Elizabeth's Catholic high school in Richmond Hill for their support of our Donate a Photo campaign.
We are getting closer to our goal every day, thanks to amazing partners like this in our community.
Thank you all for taking the time to upload a photo to help us save lives.
With the @edmontonoilers
announcing that @mcdavid97
suffered a small tear (sprain) to his PCL, this gives us another great example on the topic of Mechanism of Injury.
The PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) is one of the 4 main ligaments of the knee. Yes, there are more!
It helps stop the lower leg from being pushed backwards, off of the upper leg. This happens during car accidents, where the dashboard gets pushed into the person's shin, driving it towards the back of the car. Or when a football player is chop blocked, and the foot is planted on the ground.
Notice how McDavid's shin hits the post, but his thigh is still moving forward. Classic movement which mimics our orthopedic test - the posterior drawer test. .
