On today’s episode of ‘Kirsty Eats Lunch at 12.01pm’ ➡️ 🍔🥰❤️
I’ve been flaky as hell recently 🙄 . “My shins hurt”, “I’m injured”, “I’m too tired”, “Work keeps getting in the way”. . What a load of shit. . I cannot stop making excuses for myself. I’d been pretty unflinching in convincing myself that I’m not struggling for motivation, but that’s exactly what it is. My motivation is on the wane. No matter how many excuses and no matter how many phantom tweaks of a knee or ankle, the reason I’m struggling to run at the moment is that my motivation isn’t there at the moment. But that’s ok - it’ll come back. . For me, it all boils down to belief. If I’m racing once a month with very little training between, it’s easy to get myself hyped up. But little racing combined with regular, intense training - that’s not so easy. Speed training, blitzing runs at marathon pace once a week, back-to-back running and strength sessions - it’s relentless, and it’s clear to me that I’ve tried to be too regimented with myself. . I’m learning that I need to alleviate some of the pressure I put on myself, and I need to focus on why I’m doing this in the first place: because I love how cathartic it feels. You’re not going to get that hit of liberation if you feel you have to train, rather than want to. . For a while, I felt like I’d fallen out of love with running almost as quickly as I fell in love with it. It’s part and parcel of having an addictive personality: I find something I enjoy and then I do it to death. . I haven’t been having fun because I’ve turned running into something unruly and mechanical. . Now it’s time to get back to basics: to remember why I started in the first place. . #UKRunChat @ukrunchat #ASICSFrontRunner #LondonMarathon #marathontraining #marathons #running #run #runningmotivation #runnersofinstagram #runnersworld #runner #Imoveme #getinspired #instarunner #instarun #instarunning #instarunners @marathontalk #marathontraining #marathon

Not entirely sure whether I'm feeling more excited or more terrified.....but I'm running the London marathon next year!!!!! Eeek!!! #londonmarathon #actiononpreeclampsia #charityplace #help
If it’s on the fridge it’s happening!! • • 12 week training programme for the @virginsport #oxfordhalfmarathon On October 13th! • • I’ve ran 3 half marathons Pre the boys and dispite having a lot more time then, I never followed a programme so this will be good practice for the real deal #londonmarathon2020 🏃🏼‍♀️
T R A N S F O R M A T I O N T U E S D A Y • Non marathon runner to marathon runner • When I took up running I always said “I will never run a marathon” in fact after my 1st half marathon I said “l’m never doing that again, I’m just going to stick with 10k’s from now on” • But my competitiveness got the better of me as I wanted to break 2 hours but I still held my ground saying “I will never run a marathon” • Until a non runner friend said he was signing up to @mkmarathon as it was something he wanted to knock off his bucket list • At the time I was the only one in that friend circle who ran & I couldn’t hack the banter that he was doing something “I couldn’t” • So mr competitive here had to sign up as well • During training I said “This is the only marathon I’ll ever run, the training is too much” • On the day it was blistering hot & much harder than I expected. I run/walked from mile 16 onwards • Once finished I was upset with my time of 5:06:35 especially as I was aiming for sub 4:30 but I still said “I’m never running another marathon” but now with the added quote “unless I get into London, then that’s it” I felt I had unfinished business with a marathon time • Fast forward a few months and I was accepted by Pancreatic Cancer UK to run @londonmarathon • Nervous about going through the training again & in the early weeks I thought once I’ve done this I can put all this behind me • As the weeks went on I felt stronger & faster, I even started to enjoy the training & gradually my target time changed • I enjoyed training so much in a moment of madness I found myself entering the ballot for @chimarathon • Shock horror I was accepted, but I couldn’t think about that now as I had to finish what I started with London • My target for London started off with sub 4:30 again, but as training progressed it changed to sub 4 • I’m proud to say I managed to achieve that with a respectable time of 3:50:33 • I never felt so proud of myself • I’m now into week 5 of training for Chicago & loving it • But what will Chicago bring? • Stay tuned to find out...
T e m p o T u e s d a y - It’s here again! What a difference from last week, no stopping at last (except 2 forced traffic lights, ya girl isn’t getting run over for Strava segments 😱) - The fast end of Tempo again, which is the goal for me at the moment until I relax it a little for half training. And another 10k PB during training, can’t wait until I actually race a flat one!
