Let’s talk about anger. ⠀⠀
I recognize that anger is draining and has the potential to be a channel for stagnation rather than progress. Anger builds up walls and is the enemy of vulnerability. I know intellectually that the willingness to be vulnerable and open is the path to growth, love, creativity, and success. ⠀⠀ .
⠀⠀ But do you think anger can also be channeled into being used as fuel for growth and healing? Sometimes we are justified in feeling angry and the only way to get through that emotion is to feel it. ⠀⠀ .
⠀⠀ I have certainly experienced intense anger, and still feel flashes of it now and again for the way my family and I have been treated and betrayed. Also anger that I have been and am often forced into choosing between the narrow boxes of being: nice, cooperative, quiet, forgiving, positive, or; bitchy, difficult, bitter, stuck, negative. Can you relate? ⠀⠀ .
⠀⠀ The general redemptive narrative focuses on us rising from the depths, building positivity and strength from our tribulations. But the building up of this is not linear. There are peaks and troughs. And these can rise and fall hour by hour. Or month by month. It is when we are within these murky depths that the foundational work of change is carried out.
⠀⠀ Can anger be ultimately used as a tool to fuel growth through pushing us to explore the edges of our vulnerability?
Here’s something you might not know about me.⠀
When I was 16, I got a book deal. An honest-to-goodness publishing deal for a four-book fantasy series that I started writing at the age of 13. I still remember the exact moment when I got the email from the publisher. It was right before my shift at the grocery store where I had my first job. My dad got home just as I was finishing reading the email, and I remember telling him through tears, in utter bewilderment and disbelief, that I was going to get published. I don’t know how I got through my shift that night, but I guess I was riding high on the fumes of success. I was going to be the French-Ontarian version of Christopher Paolini with his Eragon series, or so the dream went. ⠀
Signing that contract was the biggest accomplishment of my young adult life. It also turned out to be my biggest failure.⠀

Hi Monday. Hi. You’re a rough one today. Also- calling all my type A friends!! Where you at!? 🙋🏼♀️. I thrive off routine. Workout routines - sleeping routines - daily routines, and that has all fallen by the wayside recently.
I woke up today panicked. 1. I was so tired from getting home late. 2. I feel so behind on marathon training already. 3. I have some of the busiest months of my life ahead. I feel way too over scheduled. 4. My body and mind feels exhausted.
You know what I’m doing instead of cramming in more today to try to compensate? Nothing!! I’m doing nothing. I’m taking today to recenter and reset. My body needs rest and so does my mind. I’m taking it one minute at a time today and that’s okay. Everything will be there tomorrow. I can’t take care of anything else if I can’t take care of myself first. So - here is your reminder that it’s okay to struggle. It’s okay to put yourself first. And it’s okay to not do it all in a 24 hour span. Be nice to yourself today! ❤️ 📸: @zoolifejen
