Roasted vegetable and quinoa Buddha bowls ✨ . . These where on the menu for last night and they were sooo good! The #dEATS are perfectly simple, and so easy to throw together. All it is: bed a spinach, cooked quinoa, 2 poached eggs, roasted veggies, sweet potato, balsamic tomatoes, and a hummus like dressing (classic hummus mixed with lime juice until a desired, “drippy”, consistency is formed). When all mixed together, it was glorious and I’m still dreaming about it. When it comes to your diet, come from a place of ADDITION not restriction. . 🍕Unless it’s related to a diagnosed allergy or sensitivity, restricting specific ingredients or entire food groups in the name of “wellness” or health or weight loss does not help us with food freedom OR variety. Restriction may lead to temporary weight loss, but along with it comes obsession, stress, guilt and bingeing. Is it worth it? Definitely not to me. . 🥦What variety means: variety in your diet means including lots of different kinds of foods from ALL food groups. Including whole foods (like fruit, veggies, proteins), simple AND complex carbs and yes, even packaged stuff that diet culture loves to make us fear. All of it can and should belong in your diet... if you enjoy it. . 🍝And that’s where freedom comes in. If you don’t have permission to eat all foods you enjoy (nourishing foods AND fun foods) the stress and guilt around foods you’ve labeled as “bad” pretty much outweigh any health benefits you’d get from avoiding them. . 🍓You don’t have to restrict sugar and carbs and whatever else diet culture says is “bad” these days. Eat the sugary foods and ADD other health-prompting foods you actually enjoy (not because you think you SHOULD eat them, focus on what you like). . 🌯My journey with this: once I learned how to cook well, I started cooking all kinds of meals. I got more confident with trying new ingredients inside my kitchen and out of the house. Once I started focusing on ADDING foods instead of restricting them, eating what feels best for me got easier, simpler, and more about what I enjoy + what makes me feel good mentally, physically and emotionally. . ❓What do you think about this approach to a healthy diet? I'm definitely one of those people that can only stay on plan if I have meal prepped! Don’t feel guilty about the treats you enjoyed. Thank yourself for living a little and understand you’re ready to refocus. 2. Drink water, especially if you enjoy alcohol- you need to rehydrate. 3. Focus on whole foods and lots of vegetables 4. Meal prepping 😜 5. Get in a good sweat (if you can). Long walks are just as good to get back into the swing of things. Breakfast 🤩 . . I think this is probably my favourite meal of the day, I love waking up, doing a good workout and then coming home to enjoy this . . I only recently developed an intolerance to dairy products and whilst I can take an enzyme to help with this, I prefer not to take them in the morning so I recently discovered @alpro . I personally love the coconut flavour as it’s so creamy (like dairy products) and tastes great with raspberries and banana!
