My interview with Concord Monitor finally came out today - and its on the front page of the Concord Monitor newspaper across NH! Decided to post the full thing here, so see the next slides for the interview. It talks about my childhood in Japan, living as a Buddhist, and my experience as a minority. #mentalhealthmonday 🤢 Toxic people have habitual behavior! Sometimes you can save yourself from being affected by it, by preparing ahead of time to Not be reactive. In certain situations (usually in families or at work,) you already know what’s coming, right? 🧐 . You’ve dealt with that person’s BS countless times already. There’s no reason to get blindsided! Moreover, it’s not good self-care to simply prepare to (over)react. Why not save yourself the upset and instead prepare to stay disengaged? . Letting that person get spun up in their conflict, without getting triggered by it, will also increase your understanding of their behavior. Which in turn, helps you to better control the ways in which you experience it. 😎 In other words DON’T GET SUCKED IN TO THE DRAMA! You are better than that. It’s not always easy to be the more mature one, but it’s sure a lot more peaceful! ☮️ . . . . P.S. To be clear, I don’t mean that you should subject yourself to outright abuse. I just mean that there are some relationships that are more about conflict for the sake of conflict, and if you can avoid those exasperating altercations, do so! . . On Sunday 26th October it’s time to unite against suicide. As time goes backwards, I will be walking forwards to campaign against feeling rubbish, against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably. 16 people take their own life every day, leaving behind thousands of friends, family and colleagues. On the one day we are given extra time, we will walk the streets of London for all those for whom there wasn’t enough. The Lost Hours walk is the first CALM event and a great opportunity to deal with grief differently and defiantly. We want to smash the silence around loss, and remember our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and friends out on the streets of London. Be part of it.
