Nothing makes sense anymore. It has been 22 years, I am stuck inside four walls of my house' says Ali Mohammad Sofi, who was attacked by a bear in fall of 1996. Sofi, 50, lives with his sisters who take care of his expenses and help in other necessities of life. Even after a hospital stay of over four months, with over 300 stitches around his face and head, doctors couldn't save his shape of face. Sofi, has lost vision in his left eye and has partial vision left in right eye. His nose is completely mauled and has got a plastic straw installed in its place, which he has to clean and wash regularly to avoid any infection. Since, Sofi was attacked before 2007, department of Wildlife has refused him any sort of rehabilitation fund. 'I along with my family went from pillar to post but to no avail, as they (department) say attack happened before 2007. Sofi has to take medication regularly to avoid any infection and for other ailments he developed during last twenty years due to severe trauma.
