Quite hopeful for sunset
JMT DAY 29 - CLOUDS REFLECTION NEAR HITCHCOCK LAKES
Clouds reflection near Hitchcock Lakes
Once back from Hitchcock Lakes, we enjoyed our early dinner in our little campsite that blocked winds and waited for the sunset. The sheer amount of clouds rolling in and growing overhead though was simply mind boggling.
Henry was quite worried about rain, and it could certainly dampen my plan of cowboy camping at this point. Henry decided to pitch his tent while I was still holding out.
With the view of Mt. Hale and Mt. Young the reflection of the clouds in the water was just insane. Everything looked exactly like mirrored upside down. I was extremely happy about that and was quite hopeful for the sunset.

reminiscing and day dreaming my next adventures on my way into work this Monday morning
Feeling the legs a couple thousand feet into the slope on the way to the Russell-Carillon saddle. At least the views of #mtwhitney
on the way up are spectacular! It’s easy to get off the main path in this wilderness and forget how much of a tourist trap the Whitney Trail can be once the snows melt. #iceaxe #stairstepper
Alabama Hills to the left, Mt Whitney straight ahead, Death Valley behind us - I'm moving to California!
Mt Whitney in one day. 2:30am start and 5:00pm finish. Snow pack added a new element to the hike. We were in snow within the first couple miles. #mtwhitney
I couldn’t let my head hit the pillow tonight without honoring my OWN dad. The man. The myth. The legend. Mr. Vegas. My dad.
The one who exemplified/exemplifies true love. He’s ultra-manly-meets-gentle-and-sweet. I’m confident that I am who I am today because of how he poured into me in all of those years I lived under his roof. And continues to do so even now. He always makes sure, to this day, to tell me I’m beautiful... even when I’m kinda rough around the edges and I know it... and I think he knows it a little bit too 😂. Sidenote: this picture is of last summer’s backpack. This is 72 redefined. Carrying a 50lb pack for 10 days. Simply amazing. I’m so thankful for the sense of adventure he established in me at such an early age! And to still enjoy each other’s company. Pretty priceless ❤️ Happy Father’s Day Pa!

So I’m back from the first big section in the high Sierra! Haven’t been posting because I haven’t had service for a week straight! It’s been a tough section. Many hard pushes. Many challenges. And some real life or death situations. But my dad has been there to help me through it, keep me grounded, and to share the experience of sauntering through these epic mountains. This is a special Fathers Day. Thank you for being an inspiration, now let’s climb that next mountain...
