🕍Mangueshi temple .phond ,Goa (shot on phone ) 📲 🔹About temple : This temple had its origins in Kushasthali Cortalim, a village in murmugao which fell to the invading Portuguese in 1543. In the year 1560, when the Portuguese started Christian conversions in mormugao taluka, the Saraswats of Kaundinya Gotra and Vatsa Gotra moved the Mangesh Linga from the original site at the Kushasthali or Cortalim on the banks of river Aghanashini (Zuari)(Sancoale) to its present location at Mangeshi in Priol village of Atrunja Taluka, which was then ruled by the Hindu kings of Sonde of Antruz Mahal (Ponda), to be more secure.[citation needed] Since the time of the shifting, the temple has been rebuilt and renovated twice during the reign of the Marathas and again in the year 1890. The final renovation occurred in the year 1973 when a golden kalasha (holy vessel) was fitted atop the tallest dome of the temple. This picture was taken a week after Apachan (maternal grandfather) passed away. My Nani (maternal grandmother) came to see my Dadi (paternal grandmother) after so many years. Nani's own deteriorating health and Apachan's Alzheimer's had kept her from going to see Dadi who had become totally depended on bed. . . My Dadi at this time, could understand what was being told to her but she couldn't really respond with clarity. We had to make sense of what she was saying. When Apachan passed away, my Bua (aunt) did not tell Dadi, knowing that the death and her absence in the house due to rituals, would unsettle her. So, Dadi received the news after the funeral was over. . . When Nani came to see Dadi, she held her hand, asked her without hoping for any reply from her, how she was doing. To our suprise, my Dadi uttered something. "Wadgaon Apachan". A pause followed. With great strength and with minimal clarity she asked "Marichu poyo?" (Wadgaon Apachan. Did he pass away?) We were stumped. By the question, by the way she had addressed Apachan- with the name of the place, he lived at. . . My Nani nodded her head. Tears flowed from her eyes. My dadi looked at her, in solidarity. I saw two of my grandmothers, now united in the grief of widowhood. My Dadi had lost her husband in his late 40s. From there on, she took up a job, took control and care of her family, her four kids, their education, their career, their marriages, everything. I always saw her as a strong, confident woman, being dependent on her own independence. . . With tears streaming down her face, I saw my Nani gently rubbing my Dadi's paralysed hand. I found it to be an involuntary action, an unconscious way of dealing with pain, a struggling effort to ease the loss of her husband in the process of easing the loss of activity, of this paralysed hand of my Dadi. I saw my Dadi looking at Nani, with unwavering, steady eyes, which seemed to acknowledge the pain but also determined to share a history of strength independence and confidence. . . I saw my two grandmothers, united not just in the grief of widowhood, but in sisterhood, uplifting each other through courage, patience and support.

Chinese fishing net. A blue hour view from Marine Drive, Kochi . Cochin and The Periyar river - Part (3/3) Chinese fishing nets (Cheena vala) are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is "shore operated lift nets". Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern Chinaand Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of the city name Kochi is ‘co-chin', meaning ‘like China.’ Shot on @redmiindia Follow @ans_shaddu #ans_shaddu #chinesefood #chinesefishingnets #kochinfoodie #kochidiaries #kochin #cochin #kochilife #keralatourism 🌴 #keralaportfolio #keralavibes #kochivibes #fishing #fishing 🐟 #fishingnet #_soi #wph #poi #_coi #moodygrams #instatravel
