? We've put together a list of our favorite things to do (besides indulging in the year's best films) while here in good old Marin County. Pay attention as we'll be posting updates to the list between now and Opening Night!
The indigenous #CoastMiwok
people who inhabited what is now #MarinCounty
as sacred land. A local landmark among an expansive range of rolling hills, this 2,571' mountain is Marin County's highest peak and attracts hundreds of visitors per day. The home of the famous #DipseaTrail
, Mount Tamalpais has enough paths to keep the most avid hikers on their feet for a lifetime. The state park opens its gates at 7am daily and closes at sunset (or a little later if you're lucky). This landscape photographers’ paradise is the premier place in the #BayArea
to get above the summer fog that is synonymous with #SanFrancisco
. Head up to the East Peak for panoramic views of the entire Bay Area (this is the only paid parking areas beyond the park's gates). Head over to West Ridgecrest Boulevard and watch the sun set beyond the picturesque #PointReyes
lighthouse on the horizon.
There are no amenities on Mount Tam other than the spectacular views. Make sure you gas up in #MillValley
and hit up @goodearthnatural
for some healthy snacks to keep you energized. Drive with extreme caution on the windy thoroughfare—especially in foggy conditions—and yield to the many cyclists with which you'll be sharing the road.
