OPTIMIZE YOUR PUSH-UP! - What’s up Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here with a quick push-up tip for you! - We like to coach our members to perform pushups with their elbows at around 45 degrees from their sides. - This is a bit more “shoulder friendly” than the traditional 90 degree position we often see, and we also think it’s just better from a leverage standpoint. - Think about it - if you had to push something heavy like a sled or maybe even a broken down car, or if you had to do something more explosive like a basketball or medicine ball chest pass, or if you’re a powerlifter trying to bench press the most weight possible, your elbows would more than likely be tucked rather than flared out super high. - There isn’t anything seriously wrong with the first picture, but we do think that the second is a significant upgrade both in position and potential leverage. - We also have on our YouTube channel a complete guide to getting your first push-up so definitely take a look there if you’re struggling with attaining your first bodyweight push-up! - Share with a friend who’s working on their pushups! 🔥What you didn't know about greasing the groove🔥 . Follow @dancudes . Grease the groove is one the best methods to build strength. It involves performing an exercises with a submaximal number of repetitions multiple times throughout the day or throughout the workout with the end goal of performing a large number of reps and a high volume of the exercise. For example, if you can do 20 pushups in one set, this method would call you to do, for example, 10 pushups every hour on the hour for 10 hours which would lead to 100 pushups the whole day as opposed to the potential 20 or 40 you would have gotten by doing straight sets. That additional volume can lead to some massive gainz over time and can also help you build your numbers for certain exercises, especially calisthenics such as pushups and pullups. It is a great way to build strength without taxing your body as each set is submaximal, meaning you can do it nearly every single day as you prevent yourself from fatiguing and from overtraining by not training anywhere near failure on any of your sets. Diamond Push-ups | Common Mistake Get into the standard pushup position with your hands together directly beneath your chest so that index fingers and thumbs are touching to form a triangle or "diamond" shape. Keeping your core tight, slowly lower your body to the ground. The target muscles are the triceps brachii and anterior deltoid (in red). The pectoralis major assists in shoulder flexion with slight horizontal adduction. The abdominal muscles together with the deep erector spinae and pelvic floor muscles work cooperatively to stabilize the spine. Common Mistake ❌ . An elbow position at 80 to 100 degrees from the torso can produce both acute and chronic injury to the joints and tissues.
