5x1 miles repeats with goal pace of 7:55-8:05 with 1 min rest btwn reps. . . Didn’t know what to expect from this run because the humidity was at 98% by the time we started at 5:45. I decided for the run I would just take it one mile at a time. . . Felt great the first four reps. The last rep I had @fourbitrunner be my rabbit to keep me on pace as I chased him down. Didn’t enjoy the uphill climb for the last half mile but got it done.💪🏾I also put the positive self talk to use which helped me also stay on pace. . . Carrie Cutter was a young abolitionist and surgeon from the town that tended to the wounded during the Burnside Expedition in the Civil War. She was the first female to enter service of her country in the Civil War, and died on her way back to New England. She was also the first female to be interred in the New Bern National Cemetery (buried next to her fiancée, Charles Palmer Tidd) and it took a special act of Congress to grant permission to do so. Pic 1 my bloody awful finish line photo from @ilkleyhalf. Having run the race of my life and knocked 11 minutes off my PB, I had literally nothing left. I look 80 and about to croak in this photo. Definitely not a photo I'd normally share! . . Pic 2 was just moments before. I love this photo. I look in control and focused. You can't see the pain in my face or the energy draining away. Despite having just run 13.1 miles much faster than I'd ever dreamt possible, I still managed a really good sprint finish with a final split of 3.36min/km . . Thanks Ilkley for your wonderful support and a special thank you to the volunteer at the finish line who came over with a bottle of water whilst I stood with my hands on my knees, trying to regain some composure. I keep saying it but this was a wonderfully well organised race with superb support from the volunteers. Guess who’s officially FULLY CLEARED from injury?! Okay okay, I still can’t kick anything or anyone with my right leg for another two weeks, but other than that, I’ve got no restriction! • • It’s been 3 months of what seemed like an eternity of patient waiting && I’m so glad it is finally over. You’d think a fractured big toe isn’t a big deal, but due to the size & angle of the fracture, shifting during healing and because I am a competitive athlete, I was kept longer in restriction to prevent any complications, which in hindsight I’m extremely grateful for. I couldn’t ask for a better team of doctors, surgeon and medical professionals to help me get back on my feet (for the second time in less than two years). • • Just 2.5 more weeks of PT left to strengthen my hips & ankles, increase to high impact drills and to finish up sharpening my stability. It’s been 86 days since my last run, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to get myself back on the road. My marathon & experimental triathlon journey officially has begun. 🙌🏽🚀#imback

It’s all about the little things you’ve got to do along the way, by heading out for a run when you feel shitty or the weather is terrible. If you go to the gym and do any kind of squatting, you will probably have been told you need to improve your ankle mobility. Most importantly; dorsiflexion. If you're a runner, or do any martial arts you've most likely been told the same. Ankle mobility doesn't require any specific or inventive stretches or moves, but it does require you to work on your feet and toes! 99% of people I ask that are working on their ankle mobility, if they're doing any kind of work with their feet say 'No'.
