Mood for Summer 2019! I celebrated Summer Solstice for the first time this year and it got me in the mood for Summer! I usually dread it. The heat, kids out of school, crowds. A little fun with friends did the trick. What do you normally do to kick off Summer?
Happy Monday! Let’s talk about depression, shall we? Many people deal with the winter blues but the summer blues exist as well. When it’s so hot that going outside makes people dehydrated and sick, you can start to experience cabin fever. As summer starts to heat up, I know July and August will bring the summer blues with them for many people. The best way to beat them is with a therapist. But I have a few other tips and tricks that help for me as well. First of all, stay hydrated. Dehydration causes so many issues so don’t even let yourself get to that point. Second, stick to a schedule every day. Knowing what you are going to do and sticking to it can be really helpful when it comes to your mental health. Third, make a summer bucket list. Plan to do outdoor activities at the beginning of summer and switch to fun indoor ones as summer heats up. Having things to look forward to really helps when you are feeling depressed. Last but not least, don’t be afraid to ask for help and take a mental health day. Sometimes taking one day to relax, practice self-care, and reset your schedule can make a huge difference in your life. Don’t be afraid to ask a friend or family member to help you schedule that day off or help you in any other way.
