Revisiting Chance's last mixtape before he releases his first proper album 'The Big Day' this week!
Elliott Smith would haven been turning 50 in a couple of weeks, on August 6th, had he not died almost 16 years ago. My heart actually aches, when I think about the fact that I haven’t and will never see him play live! He, Jeff Buckley and Bowie are the artists I would have loved to see live at least once in my life. Though, being completely honest with you, Elliott Smith‘s music remains the most important out of the three ti me (with the other two close behind obviously). The introspective in his lyrics, without ever feeling self-indulgent - but just simply honest and his beautiful and deeply eclectic melodies, full of the sort of artistic nuances, just left an endless emotional impact on me. And most importantly, it made feel less alone and somehow more understood in my anxiety and sometimes despair ridden times in my life. And for that I‘m just so fucking grateful! Which then again let’s me wish I had the chance to see him life at least once.
