โ€œThose who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the Earth are never alone or weary of life.โ€ [Rachel Carson] โ€ข Do you recognize this? Social media has made Antelope Canyon quite popular. Created by rushing waters, these slot canyons were discovered centuries ago by Navajo tribes and given the name as many Antelope grazed here during winter months. โ€ข How to visit Antelope Canyon:โœจ Where: Itโ€™s located east of Page, Arizona off the 98 ๐Ÿš™ Lower or Upper - decide which you want to visit. [I picked Lower]๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ Book a tour; itโ€™s required - general and photography tours are offered at both - you canโ€™t use a tripod on the general and they are shorter and cheaper ๐Ÿ“ท Best time to visit - depending on the time of year light will be different so you will want to time your visit accordingly however 10am is typically prime time; in high season there can be long line-ups๐Ÿ˜ฌ Be prepared - check the weather as yours are canceled due to extreme heat or rain, wear closed toe shoes and bring water and sunscreen, there are no restrooms at the canyon sites themselves. Know that - in all honesty these tours are all about photos - you are herded through in groups with timed entries before and after - a wonder of nature but not one you can leisurely enjoy โ€ข T: book your tour in advance as popular time slots get filled quickly. โ€ข Q: Have you visited Antelope Canyon? What did you think? โ€ข I am a professional travel advisor who creates personalized, unique itineraries. DM me to start planning your next adventure! ๐Ÿ’ซ
โ€œAll the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.โ€ [Chinese proverb] โ€ข A winding jigsaw of many shops crammed chock full of head-turningly amazing goods in a vibrant rainbow of out now, a scooter beeps and zooms past as you jump out of the itโ€™s hot...laughter, shouting, so much noise.๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฉ โ€ข The souk is exhilarating, yet exhausting.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ But then you step through the cool, contemporary, chic entrance behind 30 foot walls, into the calm oasis that is the Secret Garden.๐Ÿ˜ First the small, intimate exotic garden...clarity and calm bedazzled with a vibrant pallet of exotic plants.๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒณ โ€ข The mood changes as you move into the more traditional riad-style Islamic Garden with oodles of greenery, pavilions on each end and a charming fountain at the center. ๐Ÿ’ฆ The irrigation troughs keeping it remarkably cool. Climb the small tower at the far end to be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Medina.๐Ÿคฉ โ€ข Pause to savour a cuppa delicious tea on the terrace outside the old pavilion. โ˜•๏ธ And then youโ€™re refreshed and ready to leave this calm oasis behind and re-enter the riot of chaos that is the souk.๐Ÿ˜„ โ€ข T: entrance fee is 50 dirhams and the tower an additional 30. You will receive a map. Budget about an hour unless you want to linger longer over your tea or bring a book. While this is an alternative to the overtouristed Jardรญn Majorelle, I still recommend scheduling your visit early in the day. The history of the garden is fascinating so take the time to learn about it as you wander through. โ€ข Q: which is the most beautiful garden you have ever visited? โ€ข Shoulder season suggestion - Morocco is definitely a place I recommend to visit during shoulder season as I did. Some of the sites I visited were already quite busy so I canโ€™t imagine the crowds at high season.๐Ÿ™„
โ€œThose who follow the crowd usually get lost in it.โ€ [Anonymous] โ€ข In the travel industry there is a term - SHOULDER SEASON - are you familiar with it? No itโ€™s not about fashion choices ๐Ÿ˜‰ โ€ข High season is the time when the MOST people visit a location and low season the FEWEST. Shoulder season is the SWEET SPOT in between. ๐Ÿ’ซ It varies from place to place, but most often you will find it to be in spring or fall. I tell you this now, as our next shoulder season is around the corner and I want you to get the most from your vacation dollar. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ In most cases this is the prime time to travel IMHO. ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ€ข There are pros and cons to travelling in shoulder season. Here you can see me in Israel, spring shoulder season 2018. And this illustrates one of the benefits of travelling at this time - better photos. ๐Ÿ“ท Visit this same place during high season...fat chance of getting a photo with just you in it, or if itโ€™s your preference, just the scenery. ๐ŸŒ… โ€ข If youโ€™re interested in finding out more of the pros and cons of travelling during shoulder season, Iโ€™ve listed them in my latest blog post. ๐Ÿค“ Send me a DM or comment below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ and Iโ€™ll send you the link โœจ
โ€œI can see weโ€™re living on the edge of our dreams. Where everything is within our reach and far beyond my belief.๐Ÿคจ Nevermind the cost if everything is lost; we never had a thing anyway.โ€ [Reckless Love] โ€ข A theme that has emerged this week (and in fact the past months) is living our DREAMS.๐Ÿค” And how many of us are settling. Instead of chasing our passions.๐Ÿ’ซ How many of us think our dreams are out of reach? And so we plod along day-after-day.๐Ÿ˜ž โ€ข Two years ago when I started this business, I decided to bring my passion for travel and helping others to life.๐Ÿ’ฅ To my life and the life of others.๐Ÿ’— Not going to sugar coat this ๐Ÿ’ฉ, it has not been an easy path. Or as easy as I thought it would be at least. I was beginning to doubt.๐Ÿฅบ To falter. To question if I was on the right path. Then I aligned with my exact remedy frequency and joined a Travel Business Success Circle.๐Ÿ’ฅ And I got a touch more hope. But honestly, I was still inconsistent in my motivation. Last week I attended our group Sojourn in Daytona Beach. And I went back to when the vision for my business came to me.๐ŸคฉThe combination of the group power and the latter was ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ!!! โ€ข So stay tuned in the next couple weeks as I announce some changes to my business and know that I have some exciting new group trips in the works. ๐Ÿ’™ I canโ€™t wait to bring them to life and to you!๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ โ€ข Be in the KNOW: travel is a passion for many that remains unrequited...fear, budget, no travel partner, anxiety, safety, not knowing how to plan...there are many excuses. But know that you donโ€™t have to jump off the edge of that cliff. Like me above, inch your way carefully forward (yes Iโ€™m scared of heights!๐Ÿ˜ฑ). Make careful plans. Enlist support. Talk about your fears. Be open and not so rigid. And when youโ€™re ready, take flight.๐Ÿ’ซ Our dreams donโ€™t always look like they do in our heads, so BE OPEN. I ended up in Arizona here on a whim because of a cheap flight. It turned out to be one of my best trips EVER!๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜„ โ€ข I am a personalized travel planner who delights in bringing travel dreams to life.๐Ÿ’• If you have any travel-related questions or are ready to start planning your next adventure, please reach out.
โ€œOur Lady of Sacred Watersโ€ ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒŠ โ€ข โ€œWe hold the earth in our bodies, the air in our breath, and fire in our hearts and bellies.๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ€ข We also hold the endless depths of sacred waters in our emotional field. We can use these different parts of us to live our lives - our bodies for movement and connection, the fire within to fuel us with motivation, and the air for inspiration. We can allow the flow of emotional waters to gift us with cleansing and healing.๐ŸŒŠ โ€ข These different elements have their own valuable purpose in our life and spiritual growthโ€ โœจ[Alana Fairchild] โ€ขl Lovelies, I drew us this message from Fairchildโ€™s Mother Mary Oracle deck.๐Ÿ’ โ€ข The guidance is that you will benefit from more deeply exploring emotional expression at this time. Full moons are a powerful time for such work. โœจ So surrender and release and let the energy do itโ€™s work. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ โ€ข Give me a double-tap if this message resonates.โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ โ€ข Be in the know...Cape Reinga is the northernmost point of New Zealand and no trip to the Northland is complete without a visit here. ๐Ÿ˜ As you can see the scenery is stunning, plus the area is steeped in Maori tradition. Powerful vibes. ๐Ÿ’ซ If youโ€™re a hiker like me, note that there is a network of trails radiating out from here. Some shorter walks and longer tramps making up the Coastal Walkway. ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—
Too hot to handle?!? ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ โ€ข In all seriousness, climate change is NO joke.๐Ÿ˜ฌ Did you know that it is now directly influencing where people travel? Have you seen the temps in Southern Europe lately? Temperatures regularly exceed 40C now in July and August. It is too hot there for many. ๐Ÿฅต โ€ข What this means is that people are starting to look elsewhere for their summer vacation. ๐Ÿค” Scandinavia is set to become a destination of choice thanks to it's mild summers, wide open spaces, and an abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy. ๐Ÿƒ โ€ข And winter is going to be impacted too. ๐Ÿฅถ Snowfall is no longer guaranteed for the duration of ski season in more southerly destinations such as the Alps. In fact, many resorts are having to resort to manufacturing environment damaging fake snow. โ„๏ธ Again, Scandinavia offers an alternative. Pristine winter environments in which to enjoy a variety of winter activities such as cross country skiing and snowshoeing. โ€ข Honestly this is scary shit to think about.๐Ÿ˜ฆ Has climate change impacted your travel plans? โ€œI love when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are [all] of one religion, and it is the spirit. [Khalil Gibran] โ€ข Can you believe there are OVER 160,000 shrines and temples in Japan?! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I know, crazy right ๐Ÿคช โ€ข Kyoto alone has 2,000, which includes 17 Unesco World Heritage Sites.๐Ÿคฉ With limited time, how in the hell do you decide which ones to visit?! ๐Ÿง Let me HELP you with that. ๐Ÿ’ In my opinion, here are 5 of the BEST of the best to prioritize. ๐ŸŒŸ โ€ข 1. Fushimi Inari - famous for its thousands of vermillion gates which span a network of 760-plus feet of trails. So this is a perfect place to fit in a hike. To the summit takes 2-3 hours. Or just head up to the Yotsutsuji junction (45 min) to enjoy panoramic views of the city. 2. Kinkaku-ji - this absolutely breathtaking Zen temple is also know as the Golden Pavilion. While you canโ€™t enter the temple itself, it worth it just to visit the lush grounds and admire the beautiful exterior. 3. Ginkaku-ji - I particularly loved this Zen temple. When visiting the โ€œsilver pavilionโ€ you can traipse by a beautiful sand garden and a moss garden featuring streams, bridges and islands. So peaceful โœจ 4. Kennin-ji - the epitome of Zen if you ask me. The oldest Zen temple, it is a calm oasis on the edge of bustling Gion. Make time to sit and contemplate. 5. Sanjusangendo Temple - this one blew me away! Famous for its 1001 statues of Kannon. Itโ€™s interior is well-guarded - no pictures allowed. The whole complex is unique and impressive. If youโ€™ve visited Kyoto - which temple is a must-see in your opinion? โ€ข Be in the know - how do you know if itโ€™s a temple or a shrine? The Japanese word for Shrine is jinja so the name will include jinja or simply ji. You may also see gu affixed as in Meiji-Jingu. Still confused? The tori gate marking sacred grounds is a dead giveaway for a Shinto shrine. โ€ข If you want an expertly planned trip to Japan or another dream destination, send me a DM and letโ€™s talk...
โ€œNothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light.โ€ [Frida Kahlo] โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” I have been a fan of Frida Kahlo for as LONG as I can remember. So that was a great motivator for me to visit Mexico City. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ BUT I had also been hearing some SUPER positive buzz about it for quite awhile. SO last year I pulled the trigger and decided to spend my birthday week there! ๐ŸŽ‚ ๐ŸŽ‰ It was MOST definitely a great decision!๐Ÿ’– โ€ข It is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with an INCREDIBLE amount of things to do, see and EAT. ๐Ÿ˜‹ And I think MORE people should visit. Hence Iโ€™ve written a blog post outline some reasons why YOU should go NOW. ๐Ÿ’ซ You can find the link in my bio, so please head over and give it a read.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ โ€ข Be in the KNOW: most museums are closed on Monday and many are FREE on Sundays. So plan accordingly.๐Ÿค” Also on Sundays, the iconic Paseo de la Reforma is closed to motorized traffic in favour o cyclists, skaters and walkers. Comparable to the Champs-ร‰lysรฉes, it makes a great outing! ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜•๏ธ โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” I create unique, personalized itineraries for BUSY women who donโ€™t have the time or know-how but have BIG travel dreams!โœจ If youโ€™d like to start planning YOUR trip to Mexico City or anywhere else, contact me at and letโ€™s get started! ๐Ÿ˜
โ€œKeep close to Natureโ€™s heart...and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit cleanโ€ [John Muir] ๐Ÿƒ โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” If you would have suggested to me several years ago that I would be taking canoe trips, involving portages, into the backcountry to camp on an island I would have SCOFFED at you. ๐Ÿง โ€ข Yet here you clearly see me in a canoe on the Bird River, up in Nopiming, MB. And I did 2 portages and a carry-over each way. All worth it for the privilege of having our own private island and some much-needed time immersed in nature. Waterfalls, playful otters, a loon nesting, eagles flying high, more stars than you can imagine and even a lightening storm โšก๏ธBut dammit no moose sighting ๐Ÿ˜ž โ€ข Think you have to rough it out there? You havenโ€™t tasted my campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ Thai green curry then! ๐Ÿ˜‹ Oh and did I mention we had our own loo? โ€ข I returned home perhaps covered in bug bites ๐Ÿ˜ฉ but as a happy camper with more clarity, confidence & determination then ever!โœจ โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” TIPS: a trip like this takes some preparation, navigation skills and lots of know-how along the way. โ€œIn every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.โ€ ๐ŸŒณ[John Muir]๐ŸŒฒ โ€ข Have you ever been more FOCUSED on the destination RATHER than the journey?๐Ÿค” Earlier on, my travels consisted of arriving in a place and TRYING to SEE and DO everything.๐Ÿ˜ฌ Iโ€™d be impatient, anxious and super intense, I was so focused on this. Basically, a NIGHTMARE to be around.๐Ÿ‘ฟ It was when I started to SLOW DOWN my travels, STAY in a place longer, that I begun to reap MORE benefits.๐Ÿ’ซ A DEEPER understanding of local culture, mindfulness, TIME to focus on relaxation and WELLBEING, and as a result GREAT insight into Self.โœจ โ€ข Itโ€™s the same with the forest.๐Ÿƒ I can get SO focused on my hike...the trail, how long, where Iโ€™m going...that I DONโ€™T reap the full benefits.๐Ÿ™„ Here on this trail in Gibsons, BC, I was with my friendโ€™s children. So we were walking MUCH MORE slowly and mindfully.๐Ÿ’– โ€ข With kids itโ€™s the FIVE SENSES that lead the way.โฃ๏ธ So I was more attuned to HEARING the birds ๐Ÿค singing ๐ŸŽผ and the breeze rustling through the leaves.๐Ÿƒ To SEEING all the different greens and noticing the sunlight filter through the branches as the rain stopped.โ˜€๏ธ We dipped our fingers in the stream and placed our hands on tree trunks.๐ŸŒณ Breathing more deeply I could almost TASTE the freshness of the air.
