Just two handsome boys dropping by to say hi 👋🏼 I took the boys to @minneapolissculpturegarden last week & we spent some time sitting by the Cherry Spoon, people watching and practicing TAODN (The Art Of Doing Nothing). At one point, two women walked by & joked “Oh, you’ll never have to worry about safety with these two around”. If only I had a quarter for every time I heard an iteration of that phrase... I’d be rich! 😜 Truth is, the boys are such sweethearts & gentle souls. They’re truly the world’s biggest cry baby, prissy pants, velcro dogs ever, but I love them just the way they are. Don’t get me wrong... both boys are appropriately protective of me and our home, wary of creepy strangers, and Ruger has even alert barked at a shady guy following @galwithshepherds and me on a hike. At the end of the day, they’re fantastic dogs that fit well with my lifestyle & my personality type, and I’m incredibly grateful to the boys for solidifying my love of the Doberman breed. Ruger & Buddy are so similar, yet incredibly different—they complement each other in my 3-dog pack perfectly and I will always cherish the time I get to spend with them. Always & forever my best boys. ♥ ————— Do you see the flat collar & leash on Buddy?!! I completely forgot to grab my prong for B in my car, and decided I would use this evening as an opportunity to truly test my patience and Buddy’s loose leash walking. Buddy needed frequent reminders to give in to leash pressure from his ecollar, but all-in-all he did a really great job & I’m pretty proud of him. Not to mention, there were ducks & ducklings in the pond at the sculpture garden, which Buddy did a fantastic job of working through to remain in a calm state of mind. Some beginning whines were had, but he honestly calmed down and kept himself in check much better than I had anticipated. Ruger just hung out for fun & was probably thinking to himself “If anyone asks, I do not know this other dog... embarrassing...” 😉
↟ Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time ↟
We’ve been MIA the past 2 days because I’ve been in bed dealing with a migraine. I’m not taking a typical migraine that just required some extra strength Excedrin & water... I’m fairly certain the severity of my migraines is genetic. I I’m usually out of commission for at minimum 24 hours—looking at screens intensifies the pain and I truly can’t do anything except sleep in the dark. I’m on a prescription medication for my migraines, which I take PRN, but sometimes even the medication doesn’t work and I’m still bedridden and left feeling useless. I woke up this morning with slightly less pain & was able to get my car into the shop for an oil change. I also wrote this caption without cringing, so I consider that a win. Really hoping that taking it easy this weekend continues to help get rid of this thing. Anyways, I ranted. Hope y’all are enjoying your weekends! To those in MN—stay cool... it’s gonna be a hot one! Oh... photo-related: I haven’t found a preset that I’m in love with on my Canada photos, so all I’ve done is increase the vibrancy & existing colors in my photos. God, I love the Canadian Rockies 💙
It’s been a week since the conclusion of our Canadian road trip adventure & I’m finally getting around to editing some photos. Looking back on all the moments captured, it all feels so surreal. I can tell you right now we’re already planning our next trip! ᨏ The hike up to this lake was surrounded by forest and little mini creeks running down the mountain. A few times, we had a nice clearing that gave us a pretty view of some mountain peaks, but no idea how far we’d hiked yet. Once we came around our last turn, we could see the lake through an opening of trees and let’s just say the feeling of awe & beauty never gets old. I’m so in love with the alpine lakes in Banff... sure you can’t take your boat out on them, but that’s part of what keeps them so beautiful. I’ll take hiking to & enjoying these Gatorade lakes over boating on a Minnesota lake any day. 💙 ————— Click 📷: @5280coloradodogs
The cutest traffic cone I ever saw 🧡 Also, does it still count as #wetdogwednesday if it’s only the slush suit that’s actually wet? 😉
Squinty eyes, tongue out, happy dog ♥ I’ve been home for 3 whole days & I’m already planning my next few trips for the rest of the year. Can’t help but love to travel with my dogs & collect experiences and memories instead of materials. I will admit, I am enjoying the return to routine and spending my evenings with all my dogs, training & NOT having to sleep in a tent or car ☺️ #Hike28 of the @52hikechallenge completed 6/28/19
Wanna hear a funny story? I never hammocked before this trip & was so excited to finally get the chance to set up my @enohammocks and chill at our campsite one evening. The hammock & straps were so easy to set up and within minutes I was sitting in it with my legs dangling out, exclaiming to @5280coloradodogs & @thenorthernwild how proud I was to be hammocking for the first time. As I gingerly pulled my legs into the hammock to lie down & fully enjoy the experience, I spun 180° and fell out with a “thud”... If you ask Ashley or Tiler, they will tell you that my face went from happy accomplishment to defeated within 0.03847 seconds 🤣 Of all the photos and videos I have from this trip, I truly wish this moment was captured! On a more serious note, I am glad I didn’t get seriously hurt from falling out of the hammock. There was a dead tree stump and a large rock right where I had landed & I’m lucky I didn’t hit my head on either. I also wasn’t very far off the ground, which probably helped prevent a more serious injury or concussion. 😳😅
“It hurts to be human, but I’ve got you” @pink ↟ ↟ ↟ Two weeks in the mountains was so good for my soul. The only work-related thing I did during this trip was respond to some emails during my flight out to Denver & delete emails that weren’t priority during the trip. Pretty proud of myself for leaving work behind & letting myself recharge. This trip wouldn’t have been the same without my girl by my side. ———————— 📷: @5280coloradodogs
A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. — Douglas Pagels ᨏ Over the last two weeks, these dogs have spent every single day with each other. It’s been a lot of fun to watch their interactions with one another & to witness their pack dynamic evolve. Sophie and I are forever grateful for these Colorado pups and their humans; they have always been so gracious and welcoming & we will always consider them a part of our pack. We’re flying back to Minnesota today & while I’m beyond excited to be reunited with my boys and to be back in our home, I know I’ll be leaving yet another piece of my heart in the mountains of Canada and Colorado. I can’t wait to share more photos from our trip... I don’t think any photo will accurately depict just how stunning the views were, but at minimum they’ll spark memories of some of the most amazing experiences I’ve had in this life. Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸 Land of the Free, because of the Brave
Mountain Collie doin’ an explore 🏔 We met up with @trailsandbears for two different hikes while we were in Banff & they sure didn’t disappoint. I’ve fallen in love with summertime in the Canadian Rockies & definitely plan to come back with my boys. The weather forecast has rain plastered all over for the entire day, but we are still planning to get a hike in. Thanks for this cute action shot of my girl, Rachael (@trailsandbears )! #Hike27 of the @52hikechallenge completed 6/23/19 in Kananaskis Country, Canada . . . #midwestcanines #sweetsophiemn #bordercollie #heartdog #dogsofmsp #explorecanmore #canmore #kananaskis #kananaskiscountry #choosemountains #truenorth #optoutside #dogsofinstagram #weeklyfluff #9gag #adventuredogsofficial #mydogist #hikingdogsofinstagram #dogsthathike #campingwithdogs #sendadogphoto #bestwoof #mydogismy
