If you’re struggling, talk to someone. Please don’t carry that weight around with you – we know how hard it can be. Share what you’re going through with someone that you trust. They will want to help you. We know we say this all the time but it’s so important. As our amazing activist Laura told us, “making the decision to talk was daunting, but I found it was the only way to improve how I felt. I needed to take control. The first step that I took was speaking to a family member, they really empathised with me and pointed me in the right direction to seek professional help. Throughout this time in my life I cried an awful lot, but this needed to happen because experiencing sadness is something we all go through – nobody is alone and feeling this way will only make us appreciate happiness when it comes and trust me, it will come. I then had an appointment with my GP.  Spilling all my thoughts to them helped a great deal. They didn’t judge me, but listened and gave me some great advice." Talking helps. Letting people support you helps. Now I can recognise that her hurtful words and actions had nothing to do with who I was as a person. I’ll probably never know why she did what she did, or why others joined in, but at least now I can recognise that it wasn’t my fault. In fact, bullying is NEVER the fault of the victim, whatever the people bullying you might want you to think. I may be different, but that doesn’t mean I deserved to be bullied for it, and neither do you.
